PURIFICATION/SWEAT LODGE

Scientific Evidence – Meditation:

“There are a number of scientific studies that show the beneficial effects of meditating. Blood pressure comes down. Stress is alleviated. Basel metabolic rate and a number of psychosomatic disorders are relieved and disappear. Moreover, there is increased brain wave coherence, which also improves attention span, creativity, learning ability, and memory retrieval. Also the effects of meditation last into our daily activity, and soon our activity becomes saturated and influenced by the qualities of the unified field.” (The unified field contains all knowledge, and thru meditation we have access to it.) “This is because by experientially knowing something we become it. Once we become it, we begin to embody all its properties.” (From: Deepak Chopra, Creating Affluence pgs. 93 to 94)

Sweat Lodge:

By taking part in the sweat lodge, a person will not only receive the beneficial effects of meditating but also the following: Sweating flushes out from the body the toxic metals, such as copper, lead and mercury, and removes excess salt, a benefit for those with mild hypertension. The heat and sweating also helps ease soreness and stiffness, and dilates capillaries, increasing blood flow to the skin. For all people the sweat lodge will help to purify the body, integrate the physical and the spiritual, and will help one to reconnect with Mother Earth.

“Purification Lodge for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder”:

“The purification lodge is a Native American traditional ceremony known popularly as the sweat lodge. Native Americans prefer to use the terminology of purification, though, since men and women who participate do more than merely sweat. Experiencing the devastation of war alienates a person from his spirit. The purification ceremony helps one regain a sense of well-being. First Americans have long used this ritual to help their warriors, and now share the process with others.”

“That’s a reality that George Amiotte, an Oglala Lakota form the Pine Ridge South Dakota Reservation, knows well. Amiotte served in Vietnam and had a near-death experience there. Upon his return home he searched for ways to restore his own wounded spirit and was guided by Lokota elders to pursue Western medicine and traditional native healing. As a physician’s assistant, Amiotte now specializes in helping veterans overcome post-traumatic stress disorder, (what used to be called combat fatigue). Interestingly, Amiotte has been able to achieve success where standard Veterans Administration programs have failed. Puzzled Western doctors have questioned Amiotte on his success. Amiotte points out that healing is more than physical. Healing takes place on the physical, mental, and spiritual levels, and a medical practitioner needs to consider all three aspects for optimum success. This is something Western medicine fails to do.”

“Another Native American doing similar work is John Joseph, a shaman with the Chinook tribe and nurse practitioner in Washington state, Joseph agrees that men in war have lost their spiritually and that the lodge becomes a safe haven for them, a place to find it again. Everything said in the lodge remains there. Nothing is repeated outside of it. This gives a person a real opportunity to cleanse the heart, and to place things into the fire. The effects are wonderful and long-lasting, Joseph says, explaining that once people start to get their spiritually back, their physical appearance changes. They start to pay more attention to personal hygiene and to their clothing. More importantly, their thought patterns become steadier, without constant intrusions. Their sleep patterns begin to normalize. The purification lodge, in short, works to make people’s lives cohesive and to calm their minds.” (From Gary Null. “The Complete Encyclopedia Of Natural Healing” pgs. 409-410)

My own experiences within the sweat lodge: I felt refreshed and healed, at one with the other participants and the Universe. I experienced memories of being in the womb of my mother. I was energetic yet calm, and I was happy to be alive. I felt comfortable being in communication with our ancestors. I had many very rewarding experiences by taking part in the purification lodge ceremonies.

What is a Lightworker?

By Jim Cassa

A Lightworker is someone who makes the world a better place. It could be through music, their career or just by the Lightworkers presence. This elevates people and the environment.

Anyone can be a Lightworker. All you need to do is allow your light to shine. Personal development naturally goes with the art of being a Lightworker. A personality characteristic I notice with Lightowrkers is they have an openness to share information on self improvement and living a better life.

The consciousness of the planet is growing and evolving. Gaia, our mother earth, is changing her consciousness along with people during this planetary transition. I like to keep an open mind about such things. Our earth is in fact like a Mother. She is a living breathing being with her own consciousness, not just some piece of inorganic matter, and we need to take care of her.

As numbers grow you have websites like Lightworkers.org, and the Lightworkers ning sites, allowing social interaction and the spreading of empowering information. Positive communication helps to spread the light.

New age philosophers abound these days. You have terms like indigo children, chakras, tarot cards, and an intense desire to increase our spirituality. How I recognize a Lightworker is by their actions. By their fruits ye shall know them was told to us thousands of years ago. It is still valid today. Constructive acts define a person's character.

The personal habits of a Lightworker show you what kind of a person they are like. They often enjoy meditation or prayer. They know a state of mind is influenced by our thoughts. They are careful of what they think about and what they expose their minds. If you treat yourself as special, not with ego, with a respect and deep reverence, for you and your possibilities you begin to become that. It is a great way to live because not only do you develop your own possibilities you also raise the consciousness of the planet.

I mentioned before how personal development plays a big part in the Lightworker way of life. Meditation, Reiki, Yoga, and healthy lifestyle are methods of use to anyone bringing light to the planet.

These methods of self empowerment are growing in popularity as people awaken to their personal power. Lightworker empowerment is strengthened by the understanding of the law of attraction and manifestation. People can manifest what they want into their lives and as the light grows these powers begin to increase. Inner expansion naturally leads to expansion in the outer world and environment. We recognize our empowered state and wish to share it with others.

A Lightworker shines their light upon themselves and other people. It is a great way to live. A holistic empowered lifestyle is always created for the Lightworker.

Am I a Lightworker? Yes. At least I like to think so. I have my own personal development blog which has many informative and inspiring articles on personal power, health, and becoming a better person.

Sauna Benefits For Men And Women

By Gene B Pineda

A sauna is basically a small room wherein the temperature is warm enough to make one sweat. There are many sauna benefits that many people have knowledge of but there are still some that we are unaware of. These sauna benefits usually have something to do with the state of our body and sometimes also the state of our mental health.

The heat in a sauna is instrumental in bringing the sauna benefits to light. There are many different forms of heating up a sauna. The most common is the presence of hot rocks on which water is splashed unto to create steam and heat. The steam and the heat are both dependent on the preferences of the individuals in the sauna. There needs to be a balance between the temperature of the sauna and the heat that the person can stand to be able to reap sauna benefits.

Getting Rid of Toxins

One of the main sauna benefits is to get rid of the toxins accumulated in our bodies through sweating. Sweating causes excretion of toxins through the sweat glands and thus helps to detoxify and purify the blood from some toxins. Although, this benefit of sauna is not as thorough as we would wish it to be, it does help to clear away some of the toxins on the body. Among the many sauna benefits, detoxification is one of the most important.

Pain Relief and Weight Loss

Other sauna benefits are to relieve joint pains and other pains which may have something to do with blood that is sluggish or pooled. Those who suffer from joint pain or inflammation can expect to have blood flow in their problem areas. Although, these are just temporary relief from the pain and problem, these can provide a respite for those who suffer from these. Relief from tensed or contacted muscles is among the many sauna health benefits.

Weight loss is another benefit that we get from a sauna room. This is one of the most favored methods to lose weight since you literally melt away some fats which may have something to do with your problem areas. Among the many sauna benefits, this is one of the main reasons why many people use one.

These are some of the more prominent sauna benefits that may promote the use of this heating method. The sauna benefits are really quite plausible but care needs to be exercised especially when the individual has underlying conditions which may be aggravated due to the heat and stress when in a sauna.

Binaural Beat Meditation Releace Your Brains Full Potential With Benaural Beats

By Peter C Dougan

It has been discovered that binaural beat meditation can induce many different and desirable states of mind, including creativity, relaxation, resourcefulness and many more. You can now use binaural beat meditation to get into the correct mental state, just by listening to specially prepared sound tracks.

Remember when you were young and were fascinated by those dog whistles. When you blew on them you could not hear them at all but your dog would come running if it was anywhere near. That was because the whistle blew at a higher frequency that humans could not hear but your dog could. Dogs have a different audible range of hearing than humans do and can hear much higher frequencies than we can.

Just imagine being able to use auditory sounds that affected different parts of the brain directly without having to be heard using your ears. They would not even have to be filtered by your thoughts or conscious mind but go directly to the subconscious mind. It's a bit like that dog whistle; you may not be able to hear or understand what those frequencies mean, but the parts of the brain that these frequencies are designed for will be affected dramatically. Binaural beat meditation works somewhat like that.

The human brain is a fascinating organ and scientists still have not figured out exactly what its capabilities are. University studies have proven that we only use a small percentage of our brains, some say as little as ten percent. The potential of releasing more of the brain's power would be astronomical. The problem in achieving this is how to access the hidden potential.

A healthy diet, regular meditative practices, a holistic lifestyle which incorporates eastern practices such as yoga, and a complete absence of mind numbing chemicals will help. However that type of lifestyle requires tremendous willpower and desire, and for most of us we try but usually fall short, and some of us do not even want to try.

The reality of our lives is that we spend far too much time working, stuck in traffic, with our families, and other everyday chores. We never have the kind of time required to lead a holistic lifestyle. The majority of us need some type of shortcut, an easier way to get our brains to open up and think and act to greater capacities.

This is where binaural beat meditation can help you. These sounds with two beats that have frequencies very close to each other; will stimulate your brain without you having to do anything. Just take 10 or 15 minutes out of your day to relax and listen to them using a set of stereo ear plugs. Binaural beat meditation allows you to relax while you listen to the beats that will stimulate you brain and increase its abilities.

Alternative Energy Resources

By Lucy Diamond

There has been a lot of press recently concerning the Global Warming issue. Experts have predicted the polar caps will melt much quicker than anticipated which will cause world wide chaos. These predictions have been met with disclaimer as evidence has been uncovered concerning the data utilized by scientists. Whether you agree or not, I believe you only need open your eyes to see the amount of pollution man has generated. We live in a mobile world, and driving has become a necessity in the US and other industrialized societies. You don't have to be a 'tree hugger' to observe the damage man has done to the Earth.

What about acid rain? Smog? Where do we dispose of nuclear waste? Have you grown tired of paying those inflated monthly fees to the utilities for electricity and gas? Are you angry at the fee increases that you have no control over? If residing in the desert, you are faced with the necessity of using air conditioning almost year round, elevating profits for the "Power Companies". The same holds true in colder climates where heat is a continual necessity. And what about pollution?

Rather then depend on depleted and overpriced oil and gas, and the environmental consequences which invariably follow, why not turn to the alternative energy resources offered by nature. In areas with an abundance of sunlight or wind, these and other natural resources are renewable and do not give off greenhouse gases that harm the environment.

note: When you consider how many millions of years old the Earth is, do you realize that we have created most of the pollution, greenhouse effect and global warming in approximately the past 100 years, beginning around the time of the "Industrial Revolution!" Alternative energy refers to energy sources that have no undesired consequences such as fossil fuels or nuclear energy. They have lower carbon emissions compared to conventional energy sources, and the demand for low carbon emissions is on the rise. The alternative energy resources include Biomass, Wind, Solar, Geothermal and Hydroelectric Energy sources.

Solar energy extracts its power from the sun and uses photovoltaic cells to convert photons to electricity. These cells can be assembled into panels for heating and cooling homes, powering automobiles and supplying power stations. The drawback with solar power is that electricity can not be produced without direct sunlight, however it can be stored and other forms of power sources used as a back-up.

Wind energy is taken from the air and converted to mechanical energy with a turbine that is used to create electricity. The electricity produced by this alternative energy resource is collected by a grid at the local utility station. For centuries wind has been used in grinding grain. Wind energy is not realistic for all parts of the world, however it would prove beneficial in areas where there is constant trade winds.

Biomass is organic matter that has stored energy through the process of plant photosynthesis and may be transferred through the food chain to animals waste. This alternative energy resource can be converted through combustion, releasing carbon dioxide stored in the plant material. Biomass fuels come in the form of wood products, dried vegetation, crop residues, aquatic plants, has become one of the most commonly used renewable sources of energy in the last two decades, is low cost and indigenous.

Geothermal power is the heat contained inside the Earth via molten magma. The heat generated from these hot spots flows toward the surface as volcanoes, geysers, and hot springs. Hot water and steam can be tapped by energy conversion technology to generate electricity or produce hot water for direct use.

Hydroelectric Energy requires water to produce electricity, and the earth's hydrologic cycle naturally replenishes the fuel supply. Hydro turbines are capable of converting approximately 90% of available energy into electricity.

With these alternative energy resources, the energy is virtually free after installation of required equipment, and the equipment requires minimal maintenance. The best news is that they are pollution-free and eco-friendly.

Solar and wind energy are ideal in remote areas such as farms or countries with under developed utility infrastructures. With the astronomical use of fossil fuels, and the rate at which we are polluting the environment, alternative energy resources are not only financially feasible, they are necessary for our survival. If you would like to save on utility bills while doing your part to save the environment, check out the following website.
