Benefits Of Yoga

By Anand Tyagi

However rich or efficient you might be, health is the key to happiness of each and everybody in this world. No money, medicine or any machine can help you unless your body is equipped to fight the situation. To ensure that we are healthy throughout our life, the best and tested way is to practice Yoga.

This art is thousands of years old technique that refers to mental and physical disciplines and is considered to be the most effective if practiced regularly. It is also considered as safest at all levels and has advantages of being able to cure almost any disease possibly that can harm you. To know better about it, here are some benefits of yoga:

a) Gives you the much needed flexibility: A human body is considered to be physically fit and astound if it is flexible enough to cope with the drastic situations. We of course have immunity mechanism fighting for us round the clock, but the moment they fall weak against the attacking virus, we get infected. Yoga teaches us to be more flexible and gives strength to our body, so that we are able to gain strength and able to fight almost any disease attacking us.

b) Strengthens our joints: The complicated positions involved here are the most effective benefits of Yoga. The stretching positions ensure that the remote joints are also active and strong. Practising them regularly can guarantee that we never face joint problems in any conditions despite of old age problems.

c) Toning of muscles: With increase in age, our muscles tend to get slackened and loosen up. Yoga helps us in toning these muscles and keep them in shape, which is not easy to do with gym exercises. You can make sure that your muscles are strong for long and they seldom face wear and tear problems.

d) Detoxification: Proper Yoga postures benefits all your body parts with optimum supply of oxygen. Without ample exercises of physical activities, some body parts get devoid of oxygen supply, following to which, the development or maintenance is not normal. So you can make sure that all your organs and body parts remain active and healthy all your lifetime.

e) Massaging: One of the most important benefits of Yoga are that they provide your body parts proper massaging that allows them to perspire and be stimulated properly. As a matter of fact, all your organs are interlinked and dysfunction of any part results in a chain reaction, subsequently damaging many other mechanisms.

f) Digestion: Yoga exercises can ensure that your food consumption is regulated and whatever you eat gets digested properly. You might rarely face stomach problems as the enzyme secretion process is well maintained and metabolism mechanism is properly looked after.

g) Meditation: Another important benefit of Yoga is that it enhances the power of mediation and will power to the peak. One who practices Yoga regularly has far more stubborn power of esteem, power to face tight situations, regulate oneself in grim incidences and dedication. You can also gain a lot of concentration, mental peace and will be able to do all your with work with happiness and right approach.

So, here we see that we have tons of benefits of Yoga waiting to reward us once we accept it and practice them the way they should be.

Laws Of The Universe

By Harry K

I would like to remind our subscribers, that we are all going to go through both an emotional and financial battle in the coming months. Some people will be tested and succeed others will simply not survive.

It is a clear case of mind over matter and what ever doesn't kill us, only makes us stronger. So your own preparation is important for the crazy times ahead. We are forecasting the winter to be full of roller coasters events. For some it will clearly be a 'Winter of horrors'

As forecasters what we see more clearly than ever is that we have to make choices between good and evil, light and dark. The veil between good and evil is really lifting, at least from our viewpoint. Especially in term of many truths being revealed about the government and powers that be that were once thought to just be a conspiracy. That old saying "Times are a changin'!" is an understatement of the year.

Each of us has to make some choices. Do we stay in our comfort zone and do nothing until forced to (making us prone to making poor choices) or do we actively try to grow mentally, spiritually and emotionally?

It is time to take a very hard and honest look at our lives and choices and find ways to grow in us and in our relationships with others. Some families are on the brink of simply falling apart, and there are people suffering in so many ways. It is no point just giving up. Too many are giving up, being beaten by hard circumstances; addictions, hatred, making bad choices, both personally and professionally that affect so many others.

Choosing the darkness is not that clear of a decision, it happens slowly, one mistake after another, one bend then another. Do you think a thief just suddenly makes that choice? NO. They become a thief, robber, mugger, burglar slowly and over time--no one is born that way no matter what someone tells you. It starts with that first small, petty theft, and continues unless stopped somehow or unless the person makes a conscious decision to stop stealing and live a better life, often because they were influenced by someone who cared enough about them to guide them.

A mass murderer, who often is mentally unbalanced to begin with, does not just kill. Many things go into that decision over time. What I am saying is that we must work very hard to help each other now. If we know someone who is starting to go down a road that leads to bad things, we must lovingly intervene; offer support, friendship and kindness. Not be blunt about it, but do things that you think could alter the path, because there are many people just sitting on the fence.

Every day we are in a battle between good and evil in our own minds. Do you want to honk at the person who cut you off, or just let it be? Do you want to say spiteful things to your family or coworkers or maybe instead you can try to find out what they are facing?

How can you help your neighbor or someone in trouble? It is time to dig deeper than we are and to learn how to be a positive influence in someone else's life instead of just a burden. The lines are being drawn. And will help in the transformation into the next age we see coming. There are some big changes that are coming down the track and this waking up in many people is just one part of the process.

Have you ever noticed that if you wake up and stub your toe, spill your breakfast down your clean clothes, your negative mental state can cause you to have a bad day where one thing just tailspins into a bad day of horrible events. Everyone has had one of those bad days. It is most likely cause you are in a bad headspace and negative emotional pattern that caused more negative things to occur around you.

Then there are the days when things just go well, perfectly, a good nights rest, refreshing morning, with nothing going wrong all throughout the day. There is a 90% chance that this occurred because of your positive mental state, attracted positive events around you.

Learn from it and do something positive because everything you do will influence your future and those around you in a big way even if you don't see it directly.

May your future bring great fortunes, happiness and success on all levels.

Cultivating the Force of Transformation: Community Gardins

By Jeff

“All the worlds problems can be solved in a garden," said Geoff Lawton, director of the International Permaculture Research Institute, in his famous Greening the Desert video. While inspiring and invoking a sense of possibility and a more just and equitable future, I felt it was a bit too simplistic. How could the food, environmental and economic crises we face today on a global scale be addressed through such a simple thing as a garden?

The Urban Farm Tour side event of the UN Commission on Sustainable Development 17, took us to some inspiring places in Brooklyn where people are coming together to address the injustices and inequities in their communities through gardening. Our the fist stop on the tour, at the Brooklyn Rescue Mission (BRM), showed me how the simple act of gardening could help bring together a community, empower youth, create livelihood and improve nutrition and food security. Located in a low-income area of inner Brooklyn, the BRM is a small but growing oasis. And while the BRM community garden does not yet produce a lot of food, it none-the-less provides a valuable service to its community by providing fresh vegetables that would be otherwise unavailable.

The last community garden we visited, East New York Farms! does produce a considerable amount of fresh vegetables to be sold at their farmers market, even raising bees for honey and pollination. Yet despite their larger size and output they still cannot meet the demand for fresh food in their community. Both BRM and East New York Farms! support a farmers market in their area, a vital component to improving food security in their communities. The farmers markets are an important link in the rural to urban connection, not only increasing the amount of produce available to the host community but also strengthen the economic viability of rural farmers by enabling them to sell their produce in these otherwise inaccessible neighborhoods.

These farmers are not just food producers, they are cultivators of community. In New York, the once common vegetable garden has been replaced by parking lots and lawns, and while food production was an integral part of a community's social and physical makeup only a generation ago, the skills and practice of gardening and food preparation are disappearing. Community gardens play a vital role in improving food security and nutrition by reincorporating these fundamental skills into the populace. But perhaps more importantly, community gardens provide a space where capacities can be developed, youth can be empowered, and communities can be cultivated.

In preparation for the CSD, the delegates from the BIC deepened on the subjects of agriculture and rural development in the Baha’i Writings, resulting in some truly inspiring thoughts and realizations. Abdul'l-Baha, the son of the Founder of the Bahai Faith, Baha'u'llah, states in Foundations of World Unity that "agriculture is the fundamental basis of community," yet it is also understood that the role of agriculture and the farmer in community is far greater than the mere production of food, which is in itself of great importance for our health and livelihood. Baha'u'llah says that "the farmer is the first active agent in human society" and is "the primary factor in the body politic." This redefines the farmer as the primary builder of the local economy, encompassing a wide range of tasks including environmental management, economic development, research, technology development and community building. To carry out these tasks effectively, farmers need to possess diverse capabilities, consisting of knowledge and skills coupled with values and attitudes, that enable them to become active agents in the cultivation and development of their communities. Thus the importance of agriculture and farmers should be clearly manifested in our social structures.

Shoghi Effendi, the Guardian of the Bahai Faith and great-grandson of Baha'u'llah, wrote that, “We cannot segregate the human heart from the environment outside us and say that once one of these is reformed everything will be improved. Man is organic with the world. His inner life moulds the environment and is itself also deeply affected by it. The one acts upon the other and every abiding change in the life of man is the result of these mutual reactions.”

This process of development is therefore both internal and external, individual and societal. Baha'u'llah wrote: "In the rose garden of thy heart, plant naught but the rose of love." So perhaps solving the world's problems does start in a garden, the garden of the human heart.

A Shift In Consciousness: A New Earth

By Marie C. Barrett

Can humanity actually drop the shackles of our past limitations and separateness to step into a new reality of unity and peace? This would require a universal shift in consciousness such as has never been attained before. And this era is precisely what we are moving into right now.

We are in the process of co-creating a new earth, an earth that vibrates in a higher dimension of consciousness. You will have noticed already a shift in energy surrounding you as you go about your daily life. Start taking notice of how you feel and consciously listen to your intuition and inner guidance. Observe life from the perspective of one step back. You can free your spirit to remember who you are and to allow the flow of abundance and joy into your life. Expansion of consciousness has started and an influx of high vibratory light is underway on earth.

The distractions of daily life, the pressures of making a living, providing for your family, developing relationships, guiding your children into responsible, loving adults - all these processes of life are not intrinsic to who you are. They are the tools life offers you to help you awaken to who you are. When you make a decision, think carefully about what you want to achieve through the effects of your decision, but above all, consider who you want to BE as a result of your thoughts and actions.

The energies flooding our planet and human consciousness at present are such that they give us the inner impulse to release our past patterns of behaviour and beliefs. We are being called to create a new world of caring and love. In the past we competed with each other for what we perceived to be limited time, limited amounts of love, money, resources and services. But the ways of exclusion and competition are over. Now humanity is being urged to unite, to work together, to help each other, teach and provide for each other.

At a high level of awareness all of humanity is one entity: many yet one. Uniting from all the lands on earth, coming together and embracing our diversity and complementarity, we sing with one voice and feel with one heart. This unity point of our meeting is the Source, the One.

With the advent of computers, internet and rapid planetary communications, our world has shrunk in size. We can whisper into a microphone or telephone and be heard by a dear one thousands of kilometres away. We can stream video so that our parents in another country can watch their two year old grandson blow out the candles on his birthday cake.

Unity, togetherness, mutual acceptance, delight in difference and true brotherhood are the hallmark of this new millennium. Having reached the extreme of divergence and difference, of separation from Source and from each other, we are now turning back toward our unity point of origin. We are one because we are parts of the Creator, the One, who experiences diversity of life on earth through our consciousness. We are one in our growing awareness of our origin and destiny; way beyond the limiting beliefs and divisionary practises of times so recently past.

We are co-creating our collective future even as you read these words. Prosperity, love, joy and happiness are all ours for the asking. The more we share, encourage, accept and contribute to the collective good, the faster we will magnetize into our experience, an amazing and expansive future of heaven on earth: a new earth and a new experience of heaven. Begin within your own heart, to listen, to love and to grow. Make every thought count powerfully, for with every thought we create our future.
