The Benefits of Meditation after Reading Spiritual Stories by Chris Cade
For many people who are reading and studying spiritual stories and spiritually based lessons, meditation after reading will work to help them gain a deeper understanding for the material. The quiet meditation allows time for your mind to become centered and focused on the information that has been presented.
By not allowing other distractions to enter, you can fully absorb what you have learned. If you rush off from a spiritual lesson to do grocery shopping or other errands, much of the lesson may get short shrift and be forgotten. By thoughtfully and quietly centering yourself and allowing the words and thoughts inspired by the lesson penetrate your deepest conscious levels, you can gain a more intuitive feel for what the lesson truly means. Meditation is not only a time of quiet reflection, it is a time to let your thoughts sort out what is important from the more mundane realities of life. This type of concentration will give you a way to consider the larger meaning of the stories and lessons as they relate to your own life. Some of the ideas that may have at first seemed difficult to grasp can easily be assimilated and sorted when you allow your mind and spirit a quiet and meditative moment to contemplate.
Many religious organizations are even incorporating many elements of meditation into their services as a way to help people become more attuned to their inner spirit. The consciousness can become more and more present in your daily life as you learn how to open yourself to enlightened thoughts and centered behavior through meditation. For some people, meditation itself allows all of the cares and frustrating distractions to be set aside for a short period of time, and they can concentrate fully on the matter at hand.
When a lesson, such as studying a spiritual story, is given this type of total conscious thought and concentration, the subconscious areas of the mind are able to help you put things into better perspective and allow you to glimpse ideas that are very subtle in nature.
